Core Topics

All classroom tuition starts with a five day “Core Topics’ element, which is designed to teach you those elements of the ATPL course which are found across several subjects and understanding of which is key to your progress through your training.

Getting a grasp of these core topics at the start of your training will provide you with a solid foundation on which to build your other knowledge.

This will include, for example, the International Standard Atmosphere, reading latitudes and longitudes, gyroscopes, geometry and trigonometry, etc.

CAT I

The Cat I course comprises the basic elements of distance learning only.

It is designed for students whose classroom time is limited, due to work or other commitments, or who may be on a limited budget.

We will still provide you with the same level of telephone and email support as all other students.

If you later find you have more time than originally thought, and need some additional classroom assistance, you will be able to attend tutorial sessions at significantly discounted prices.

CAT II

The Cat II courses comprises the basic elements of distance learning plus four pre-paid tutorials at massively discounted prices, to assist you with those trickier subjects.

It is designed for students whose classroom time is still a little limited, due to work or other commitments, but who may have a little more flexibility with their free time.

We will still provide you with the same level of telephone and email support as all other students.

If you find you need some additional classroom assistance and you have time, you will still be able to attend additional tutorial sessions at significantly discounted prices.

CAT IIIA

The Cat III courses are designed for students who are able to commit to a large amount of classroom time.

The course is still designed around a distance learning format, i.e. in 4 x sub-modules, but each sub-module is designed to be studied over a two-month period and supported by a large volume of classroom tuition.

In fact, you receive more classroom tuition than most integrated students, and over a longer period of time, allowing you more time to absorb the information.

We will still provide you with the same level of telephone and email support as all other students.

CAT IIIB

The Cat IIIB course extends the classroom learning environment into the flight simulator, whereby you will receive an additional ½ day of classroom training, on the specifics of automation and navigation in modern commercial aircraft, plus four hours in the simulator.

Whilst this is not meant to be a jet orientation course, it will certainly open your mind to the prospect of flying fast jet aircraft where things happen a lot quicker, and you have to stay well ahead of the aircraft at all times.

CAT IIIC

The Cat IIIC course goes one step further and introduces you to the concepts of multi-crew co-operation. Again, you will receive an additional ½ day of classroom training, on the specifics of operating as a crew member of a multi-crew commercial aircraft, plus four hours in the simulator.

This add-on to the Cat IIIB course is designed to be attended in groups of two, in order that you operate as Pilot Flying and Pilot Not Flying, and is an excellent introduction to multi-crew flying and the ideal lead-in to the multi-crew co-operation course.

The additional training will take place at the end of the classroom training and can be taken before or after you have completed your ME CPL/IR training.

You can purchase this add-on separately but booking and paying for it at the outset gets you a further discount off standard prices.
